| STATE OFFICIALS TOUR FLOOD DAMAGED
FARMS IN NORTHEASTERN
PENNSYLVANIA |

HARRISBURG – Last week, Agriculture
Secretary Dennis Wolff met with farmers in the
northeastern part of the state to discuss the
impact recent flooding caused to their
operations and what they can do to recover.
State and local officials joined Secretary Wolff
on tours of the damaged areas in Lackawanna,
Wyoming, Susquehanna, Wayne and Luzerne
counties. Governor Edward Rendell also met the
group on Saturday to express his support to the
local farmers. |

HARRISBURG – As a routine precaution, the
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
temporarily closed a live bird market in
Philadelphia today after birds tested positive
for a strain of avian
influenza. |

HARRISBURG – More children will be able
to enjoy healthy, homegrown food under
Pennsylvania’s Farmers Market Nutrition Program
with the release of a new round of checks for
people participating in the Women, Infant and
Children (WIC) program. More checks will also be
available for eligible older adults, Agriculture
Secretary Dennis Wolff said

changes in nutrient management regulations by
